Happy X-Men Day!
Twentieth Century Fox has declared today, May 13, a day to celebrate the X-Men franchise — which encompasses 11 films released over the past 20 years. In honor of this self-proclaimed holiday, the studio is releasing tons of content, particularly revolving around the upcoming Dark Phoenix feature, which is expected to effectively conclude the franchise.
To start, tickets for the movie — which hits theaters on June 7 — officially went on sale this morning. The studio also released a new promotional spot for the movie, called “A Phoenix Will Rise,” which incorporates footage from the previous X-Men films leading up to Dark Phoenix.
There’s also a new featurette called “The X-Men Legacy.” In this 2-minute and 30-second clip, X-Men actors — including Patrick Stewart, Sophie Turner, Hugh Jackman, and James McAvoy — discuss the history and impact of the series.
On top of that, the official X-Men Movies Twitter account is hosting an X-Men sweepstakes and is reposting tons of awesome, X-Men-Day-exclusive posters from comic book shops around the country. IMAX also debuted its poster for Dark Phoenix in honor of the holiday.
