Believe it or not, New York Comic Con (NYCC) exclusives season is upon us.
The state of exclusives for this convention is a bit up in the air, as the show is currently scheduled to take place in person this October. So, we’ll have to see if companies still choose to offer their exclusives online, which has become a common practice throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, especially as ReedPop is limiting the capacity for the convention and selling tickets to a digital NYCC experience.
However, Diamond Select Toys (DST) seems to be offering at least some of its exclusives online. Today, two DST busts dropped on Entertainment Earth, both labeled as NYCC 2021 exclusives and both pictured above.
The first is a Star Wars Episode IX Dark Rey 1:6-Scale Bust, which recreates the moment from The Rise of Skywalker when Rey gets a vision of her life as Emperor Palpatine’s disciple, complete with her double-bladed lightsaber. The bust costs $119.99, is limited to 2,500 pieces, and is scheduled to ship in October.
The second bust — which is also up from preorder directly from DST — depicts a comics-inspired Doctor Doom, who has been transformed into a zombie along with the rest of the superheroes and villains on Earth-2149. The 7-inch bust is even more limited at 750 pieces, but it also costs $119.99. It is scheduled to ship in November.
