Ever since the final episode of Parks and Recreation aired on Feb. 24, 2015, fans have been yearning for just a little more. And last night, they got it. Well, kind of.
The full Pawney crew gathered last night at PaleyFest for a panel commemorating the 10-year anniversary of the show’s premiere. Stars Amy Poehler, Rashida Jones, Nick Offerman, Adam Scott, Chris Pratt, Aubrey Plaza, Aziz Ansari, Rob Lowe, Retta, Jim O’Heir; creator Mike Schur; and super Stan/guest star Patton Oswalt all gathered at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood, reminiscing about the good ol’ days, sharing inside jokes and behind-the-scenes deets, and discussing whether or not we’ll ever get a reunion.
The short answer: Who knows?
Poehler has said more than once that she’d be on board, but Schur hedged his bets a bit more.
“I have no idea where I’d want it (the series) to go, we would do what we usually do: blow out the formula, do nothing that works — put us in space,” Poehler says, “This is why I’m not the one with the ideas.”
“We’d only do it if there was something compelling,” Schur says, adding a TV reunion would require everyone being all in. “[If] anyone onstage said ‘No’, we wouldn’t do it. I would never say never.”
While fans would undoubtedly disagree, Schur says he doesn’t “feel like we left anything on the table, the show made its argument.”
Plaza chimed in with some updates for anyone wondering what April and Andy may be up to these days, and she didn’t disappoint.
“I mean, she’d probably have 10 children, a houseful of children,” she says. “Because I know Andy and April aren’t going to stop. And they don’t use protection. They don’t know where to get it. They’ll probably have a lot of children. I feel like she’s the breadwinner, she’s wearing $3,000 suits while Andy makes pancakes.”
Although we may be upset we only got seven seasons, Schur was amazed the show made it that far.
“We thought we were getting canceled all the time,” he says. “If this lasts for a while, it could be a whole world. I never imagined we’d go for seven years.”
TL:DR: The jury’s still out on a revival. But why wait and ponder uncertainties? Just go binge Parks and Rec now. After all, what better way to #TreatYoself?
