UNIT’s most-classified facility is headed to the Gaslamp District. BBC Studios is bringing a huge activation to Comic-Con International: San Diego (SDCC) where Doctor Who fans can experience the Whoniverse in a whole new way.
Fans can visit the Black Archive as seen in the 50th anniversary special The Day of the Doctor at The Harbor Club at 100 E Harbor Drive. Inside the facility, visitors can find hidden clues and alien artifacts including easter eggs from the upcoming Doctor Who spinoff, The War Between the Land and the Sea. The Black Archive will be open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. July 24-26 and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, July 27.
At the activation, fans enroll into UNIT and receive an official Level 1 clearance badge to access the Black Archive to see iconic props from the show, including a Dalek Mutant, Cybermen, and more. Every evening from 6-8 p.m. the Black Archive will transform into a mission where fans help the doctor uncover hidden clues and compete to win SDCC-exclusive prizes.
While you are there, you can also stop by the exclusive Doctor Who merch shop, which features brand new, limited-edition apparel and accessories to celebrate 60 years of the show. The shop will also feature a photo op where you can step into the Fifteenth Doctor’s TARDIS to experience all of time and space for yourself.
SDCC is also the perfect time to visit the Doctor Who Worlds of Wonder: Where Science Meets Fiction Exhibit at Comic-Con Museum in Balboa Park, where you can explore interactive exhibits and see on-screen props and costumes, including all seventeen of the Doctor’s costumes displayed together.
With only a few weeks until fans from around the world hop in the TARDIS and head to San Diego, now is the time to pencil in your stop to both of these timey-wimey activities!
