SDCC: ‘Dungeon Crawler Carl’ Dominates the Show

Comic-Con International San Diego (SDCC) is typically crawling with cosplayers in spandex, but this year, it was overrun with white boxers covered in hearts. Those, our friends, were Dungeon Crawler Carl cosplayers. 

Dungeon Crawler Carl author Matt Dinniman had a full-on presence at SDCC with multiple signings, panels, and more. The show featured the launch of the first officially licensed line of Dungeon Crawler Carl toys and collectibles through Borant Corp. (also known as Playmates Toys). Exclusive editions of the new figures and collectibles were available at UCC Distributing’s booths, and the only time the lines were short was when the DCC products were sold out. 

“The figures are amazing,” Dinniman says. “They have some new things coming along the pipeline that haven’t been shown yet to the public, and that’s even more amazing, but the toys are awesome. The exclusive one they have with the Bloody Carl. I mean, it’s every kid’s dream to have an action figure made after something they created, and it’s really cool. It’s pretty cool.”

Playmates Toys also gave fans their first look at upcoming waves of DCC toys, including Dungeon Highlights Statues featuring Elle McGibbons and Katia Grim, Collectible Crawler Figures featuring Bautista and Imani, two new Princess Donut loot boxes, and Princess Posse plush that are to kill for.

Dinniman and the DCC team also used the show to launch several other big announcements, including a new pinball machine by Multimorphic, and the casting of Dungeon Crawler Carl audiobook narrator Jeff Hays as Princess Donut in the live-action series from Seth McFarlane’s Fuzzy Door production studio.
