During the “This Week in Marvel” panel yesterday at Comic-Con International: San Diego, Marvel announced some big names joining forces to help create the monumental Marvel Comics No. 1000.

Artists Neil Gaiman and Mark Buckingham, known for their previous work on MiracleMan, will return to Marvel Comics and contribute to this landmark collaboration with 80 other teams in celebration of the studio’s 80th anniversary.

The panel also revealed that the teams of David Mandel and Butch Guice and Jason Reynolds and Patrick O’ Keefe will contribute to the issue. These artists join the existing star-studded lineup of creators, such as Al Ewing, Adam Kubert, Alex Ross, Gail Simone, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Chris Claremont, Peter David, and Mark Waid.

The marvel-ous issue will be released on Wednesday, Aug. 28.
