When pop culture enthusiasts hear “fall event in New York City,” they are much more likely to imagine New York Comic Con than New York Fashion Week. Yet last night, the fandom world made a splash in the fashion sphere when streetwear brand Sprayground showcased multiple licensed items in a New York Fashion Week runway show.

During the show, which The Pop Insider was able to attend, the audience got a first look at 40 travel fashion looks. Within those looks, Sprayground teased some upcoming collaborations with popular brands.

Those collaborations were as wide-ranging as the looks themselves: Runway models carried backpacks inspired by classic movies Scarface and The Godfather, as well as a Harlem Globetrotters backpack.

There were also bags inspired by James Cameron’s Avatar movies, which deviated from Sprayground’s usual backpack offerings. Instead, Sprayground incorporated the Na’vi vibe into a duffle bag and a large purse.

The Sprayground show had plenty to tease for anime fans, too, including a Sailor Moon backpack featuring a large illustration of the titular Sailor Soldier against Sprayground’s trademark shark-bite graphic. And while all of the models who showcased these pop culture-influenced items sported matching outfits, none stood out quite like the Naruto ensemble. It featured fabric depicting the titular character in action poses, along with a pair of flaming eyes. The matching Naruto bag was also a duffle, decorated with outlines of the iconic Naruto clouds.

There is no information available at this time about when these licensed bags will drop for sale, but fans should keep an eye on the official Sprayground website. These new collaborations are the latest in an ever-growing roster for Sprayground, which has previously released bags for Hershey, Star Wars, Rick and Morty, SpongeBob SquarePants, Space Jam, and more.
