UPDATE: The release date for this collection has been moved to Oct. 26. It was previously scheduled to release on Oct. 12.
It’s a bird! It’s a plane! No, it’s the entire collection of Superman: The Animated Series on Blu-ray and digital!
Warner Bros. Home Entertainment and DC are celebrating the 25th anniversary of this super show with a full box set, which comes with six disks that feature all 54 episodes of the show, three episodes featuring audio commentary from the showrunners, and a variety of special features. One featurette, “Superman: Timeless Icon,” is new for the collection. It features producers Bruce Timm and Paul Dini, director Dan Riba, writer Bob Goodman, casting and dialogue director Andrea Romano, Tim Daly (voice of Superman), and Clancy Brown (voice of Lex Luthor), who discuss the process of creating the show.
Other special features include “A Little Piece of Trivia,” “Superman: Learning to Fly,” “Building the Mythology: Superman’s Supporting Cast,” “Menaces of Metropolis: Behind the Villains of Superman,” and “The Despot Darkseid: A Villain Worthy of Superman.”
All 54 episodes have been remastered from the originals, too, with attention to color correction, dirt and scratch cleanup, and grain reduction. Superman: The Animated Series first aired on Sept. 6, 1996, as the follow-up to Batman: The Animated Series. The show features an all-star cast — including Daly, Brown, Dana Delany, and David Kaufman — and won two Emmy Awards.
The box set will cost $69.99 and will be available to purchase starting on Oct. 26.
