Get ready to build a very colorful village — LEGO Trolls are coming!
Ahead of next year’s animated musical, Trolls World Tour, Universal Brand Development and the LEGO Group dropped a big teaser, showing off a colorful Poppy minifigure wearing a backstage pass. It’s the LEGO version of the first teaser poster.
Characters from DreamWorks Animation’s popular franchise will inhabit sets inspired by scenes from the upcoming film. The addition of Trolls adds to an expansive lineup from Universal and LEGO, which already includes sets based on Jurassic World, Voltron, and Back to the Future.
“We are excited to build upon our successful partnership with Universal by adding the popular Trolls franchise into our collection,” says Jill Wilfert, vice president, licensing & entertainment for the LEGO Group. “The first film was a colorful celebration of positivity that appealed to a wide audience, and we see a lot of potential in the Trolls’ universe to inspire compelling, creative play experiences.”
What We Know About Trolls World Tour So Far:
“It’s all glitter and happiness in Troll Town until Queen Poppy and Branch make a surprising discovery — there are other Troll worlds beyond their own, each defined by a different genre of music. When a mysterious threat puts all the Trolls across the land in danger, Poppy, Branch, and their band of friends must embark on an epic quest through unfamiliar terrain to do the impossible: create harmony among the diverse Trolls to unite them against certain doom.”
Returning cast members include Anna Kendrick (Poppy), Justin Timberlake (Branch), James Corden (Biggie), Caroline Hjelt (Chenille), Aino Jawo (Satin), Ron Funches (Cooper) and Kunal Nayyar (Guy Diamond). Joining the crew for the next adventure are Sam Rockwell, Chance the Rapper, Anthony Ramos, Karan Soni, Flula Borg, and Jamie Dornan, who will voice new characters.
Trolls‘ Walt Dohrn is back to direct, with Gina Shay producing. Co-directed by David P. Smith (The Mr. Peabody and Sherman Show), the film explores new music genres, including pop, country, hip-hop, hard rock, funk, K-pop, and EDM.
Trolls World Tour hits theaters on April 20, 2020.
