Queen Bey is the master at surprise music releases, and while it appears to have just happened again, it was all a hacker’s work that published Beyoncé’s catalog.
A collection of Beyoncé’s unreleased music dropped Thursday night on various music streaming services, under the alias “Queen Carter.” Two 10-track albums were uploaded: Back Up, Rewind and Have Your Way. The two albums include songs such as “After All Is Said and Done,” “Hey Goldmember,” “Twerk,” “Black Culture,” and “Keep Giving Your Love to Me.”
Beyonce fans were quick to notice that the songs are not new. Loyal members of the BeyHive would have heard these tunes before. While Bey is the queen of surprise releases, this clearly was a master hacker at work rather than a direct drop from the Carters, considering the albums have already been removed from the streaming sites.
.@Beyonce I love that you dropped your old b-sides on Spotify. Some of these songs are so darn good & deserves to have been singles. #QueenCarter #BackUpRewind 💛
