Comic Con Experience – São Paulo (CCXP) got a little more technicolor today, as the con globally livestreamed a panel on Twitter for the first time ever. That panel was for Wonder Woman 1984, and it was equally full of ’80s light effects and star power, as director Patty Jenkins and Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman herself) took the stage.
During the panel, Gadot and Jenkins introduced the first trailer for the Wonder Woman sequel. In this trailer, we pick up with Wonder Woman four decades after her World War I origin story from the first film, as she navigates the modern world. According to Gadot, the hero is a bit lonely, but she is still doing her part to keep the world safe.
The 2-minute and 24-second trailer is straight out of the ’80s, with the neon colors, music, outfits, and shopping malls to match. Fans get their first look at Kristen Wiig in action as Barbara Minerva (aka the Cheetah) and Pedro Pascal as the mysterious Maxwell Lord. We see Wonder Woman lasso lightning, don the fantastic all-gold outfit that we saw in the movie’s first poster, and even reunite with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine, who Jenkins assures fans is not reprising his role “as a gimmick”). There’s a lot to unpack, and it’s very exciting.
Check out the full trailer below, and mark your calendars for June 5, when Wonder Woman 1984 debuts in theaters.
