Fans at CinemaCon got an exclusive teaser of two highly anticipated new Warner Bros. superhero and super villain flicks.
According to Variety, DC teased first-look footage of Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) and Wonder Woman 1984, along with interviews from the films’ stars.
Birds of Prey stars Margot Robbie, once again reprising her role as Harley Quinn as she aligns with urban warriors named Birds of Prey. At the panel, thanks to a pre-taped interview, the cast reveals, “This is not Batman’s Gotham. It’s a scrappier Gotham.”
In addition to teasing the Harley Quinn standalone picture, the studio also showed the first footage for Wonder Woman 1984, featuring the fierce heroine Diana showing off her abilities alongside the rest of the star-studded cast. The clip showed Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman arm in arm with Steve Trevor (Chris Pine) by the Washington monuments, even though audiences presumably watched him die in a plane explosion at the end of the first film.
Further footage showcased Wonder Woman lassoing some bad guys in a mall and Cheetah (Kristen Wiig) in all her villainous glory.
“This is a story we are very excited about. Diana is now in her full powers,” says Director Patty Jenkins in a pre-recorded clip shown at the panel.
Both Wonder Woman 1984 and Birds of Prey are set to hit theaters late next year.
