Diamond Comic Distributors is celebrating its ruby anniversary today!
The company — now the largest distributor of English-language comic books, graphic novels, and related pop-culture merch in the world — officially opened for business on Feb. 1, 1982. That is when Diamond Comic Distributors CEO Steve Geppi transitioned away from being a local comic book retailer and into distribution.
Along with celebrating 40 years today, the company is hitting a few other milestones this year. The Previews catalog published its 400th issue last month, while Diamond’s customer service team celebrates its 25th anniversary.

Diamond plans to commemorate its 40th anniversary with a year-long celebration. This will include some 40th-anniversary Previews exclusives with commemorative logo stickers on the packaging, 40 weeks of special deals, commemorative ads inside Previews, a new look for the diamondcomics.com home page (which is live now), and more.
Additional details about these anniversary initiatives will be available soon.
