John Landgraf, CEO of FX Networks and FX Productions, announced on Monday at the Television Critics Association winter press tour that Legion is set to end following its third season.

Landgraf explained that series creator and executive producer Noah Hawley always planned to conclude Legion after three seasons.

However, the series is set to go out with a bang, as the X-Men founder Professor Charles Xavier (Harry Lloyd) will make an appearance, ComicBook reported. Lloyd, who is best known for his role as Viserys Targaryen in Game of Thrones, will be the third live-action Professor Xavier, following Patrick Stewart and James McAvoy.

Fans will finally get to see the beloved character again after Hawley continually teased Professor Xavier’s guest appearance in the previous seasons. He even had the iconic wheelchair pop up in previous episodes.

Stephanie Corneliussen from USA’s Mr. Robot will also guest star as David Haller’s mother.

Legion’s stars Dan Stevens (David Haller), Aubrey Plaza (Lenny Busker), Rachel Keller (Syd Barrett), Bill Irwin (Cary Loudermilk), Jeremie Harris (Ptonomy Wallace), Amber Midthunder (Kerry Loudermilk), Jean Smart (Dr. Melanie Bird), Jemaine Clement (Oliver Bird), Hamish Linklaster (Clark), and Navid Negahban (Amahl Farouk) will return to close out the show.

FX renewed the series last June to continue the story of the world’s most powerful mutant, David Haller, which is based on the Marvel Comics created by Chris Claremont and Bill Sienkiewicz.
