Hunger Games Prequel

It doesn’t matter if you were Team Peeta or Team Gale, all that matters is that there is a new Hunger Games novel coming from Scholastic. This. Is. Not. A. Drill.

Written by Suzanne Collins. the Untitled Panem Novel (title not final, obvs) will revisit the world of Panem 64 years before the events of The Hunger Games, on the
morning of the reaping of the 10th Hunger Games. Untitled Panem Novel will be published simultaneously in print, digital, and audio formats by Scholastic in the U.S., Canada, the UK and Ireland, Australia, and New Zealand next year on May 19.

“Suzanne Collins is a master at combining brilliant storytelling, superb world-building, breathtaking suspense, and social commentary,” says Ellie Berger, president of Scholastic Trade. “We are absolutely thrilled — as both readers and publishers — to introduce the devoted fans of the series and a new audience to an entirely new perspective on this modern classic.”

On returning to the world of The Hunger Games, Suzanne Collins says, “With this book, I wanted to explore the state of nature, who we are, and what we perceive is required for our survival. The reconstruction period 10 years after the war, commonly referred to as the Dark Days — as the country of Panem struggles back to its feet — provides fertile ground for characters to grapple with these questions and thereby define their views of humanity.”

The publishing powerhouse released a poster for the book, too. It tells you basically nothing but I am already beside myself with excitement.

Hunger Games Prequel

I’m sure Collins isn’t taking fan requests, but I personally would love to meet Papa Everdeen and, on a less happy note, get a glimpse into Katniss’ mother’s unraveling. Of course, I’m not the only fan with some thoughts; Twitter was abuzz, too.
