Fans of the Marvel Masterpieces trading cards don’t have to wait any longer for the next iteration of their favorite collectibles.
Upper Deck has officially announced Dan dos Santos as the featured artist for the much anticipated 2023 Marvel Masterpieces series. This launch marks the first Marvel Masterpieces series since 2020.
Dos Santos, an American speculative fiction artist whose illustrations have graced the No. 1 spot on the New York Times Best Seller list numerous times, is set to bring his fantasy-driven style to the iconic series. As a five-time nominee for the Hugo Award for best artist, dos Santos has reached worldwide audiences and influenced artwork across the fantasy market. This will be the first full trading card set the artist has completed.
As fans unbox these cards, they will be immediately immersed in the world of some of the most recognized comic book characters in history, including Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Captain America. Fans familiar with the original 1992 Marvel Masterpieces will find some familiar elements in the new cards.
The set will include popular trading card inserts such as Battle Spectra, Preliminary Art, Mirage, and Gallery cards. Along with these sought-after, limited print inserts, collectors will also have the opportunity to score very limited 1-of-1 cards, including some that are hand-sketched/painted and signed by dos Santos himself.
The 2023 edition of Marvel Masterpieces is set to release next month.
