In honor of Star Trek’s 60th anniversary, The Nacelle Co. is boldly going where no man has gone before — transforming the Final Frontier’s founders into action figures.
The company finally announced the mystery duo-pack that rounds out Wave 3 of its 1:10-scale Star Trek action figure line, and it includes none other than Gene Roddenberry and Lucille Ball. Both stars played a critical role in bringing the sci-fi series to the screen, ensuring the franchise’s legacy would always live long and prosper. The figures will be available for preorder on Nacelle’s website soon.
Roddenberry is the creator behind the entire Star Trek saga, beginning with Star Trek: The Original Series back in 1966. It wasn’t easy to bring such a unique, experimental story to life. Roddenberry went from studio to studio pitching the project, but met slammed doors at every turn. That was, until one fateful meeting at Desilu Productions.
While many of Desilu’s executives weren’t interested in Star Trek, the studio’s co-owner and president Lucille Ball, best known for starring in the ‘60s sit-com I Love Lucy, was absolutely fascinated. Overruling her fellow board members, Ball bravely pledged to back the series, personally approving and financing a second pilot — the one that scored Star Trek a prime-time pick-up. Together, Roddenberry and Ball’s impact forever changed the science fiction landscape, launching an enterprise that fans would fall in love with for years to come.

The Roddenberry and Ball duo-pack will debut in the third wave of Nacelle’s 1:10-scale figure line, joining fan-favorites like James T. Kirk, Spock, Leonard McCoy, Nyota Uhura, Hikaru Sulu, Pavel Chekov, Montgomery ‘Scotty’ Scott, Christine Chapel, and Janice Rand.
