Marvel TV is shutting down. The announcement comes after months of division-wide phasing down, and layoffs are expected.

According to a statement from the TV division, “The decision has been made to complete Marvel TV projects that are currently in production, but not continue with any further development.”

Marvel-produced shows currently in production include Helstrom and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Some planned programs, such as Ghost Rider, were scrapped during the run-up to Marvel TV’s shutdown announcement, and others, such as Cloak and Dagger, were canceled after short runs.

Jeph Loeb, the head of Marvel TV, was expected to leave the production department at the end of the year, but now he may stay on a bit longer to see the company to the end. Loeb is a celebrated comic book writer, television producer, and executive.

Marvel TV produced a number of hit Netflix shows, such as Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, and The Punisher

More info should be released in the coming weeks and months. Stay tuned!
