The Pop Insider and YouTube series Cosplayers Getting Coffee co-hosted the Happy Birthday Mr. Marvel event on Dec. 28 to celebrate the birthday of the late Marvel comic book writer, editor, and publisher Stan Lee.

The free event at Faces & Names in New York honored Lee for his contribution to the superhero universe on what would have been his 96th birthday.

Cosplayers, Marvel fans, and even a Yu-Gi-Oh master attended the bash to make it nothing less than super.

The party started at 1 p.m. following the Marvel March, coordinated by Cosplay Nay, during which fans dressed as their favorite Marvel characters and trekked through the streets of New York in the pouring rain, to show their devotion and passion for Lee.

The march kicked off at Madison Square Garden at 12:30 p.m. and ended at Marvel Entertainment’s headquarters at 135 W 50th Street. Stops included Midtown Comics and Times Square.

Fans entered the party in their superhero best to enjoy drinks, hors d’oeuvres, Marvel-themed board games, and an epic hour of Marvel trivia hosted by Trivial Dispute. With lots of Marvel superfans out to prove their knowledge of Stan Lee and their favorite superheroes, you better believe that trivia game got heated.

Balloons, confetti and party hats littered the room to get fans in the festive spirit, while the bartenders mixed whimsical cocktails named after Marvel superhero favorites: the Spidey Sense and Hulk’s Smash.

Cosplayers and fans enjoyed an epic birthday cake, caricature art, and photo ops with a 6-foot cardboard cutout of the legendary writer.

Plus, one lucky guest won a Mega Marvel giveaway and left with a giant pile of Marvel swag, collectibles, and a $100 Amazon gift card. The remaining guests all walked away with goodie bags of their own and visions of superheroes dancing in their heads.

For some, the party proved exhausting.
