Zag Toys has added a pretty *super* collection to its Domez collectibles line — the heroes and villains from last year’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
There are eight different characters from the movie in the collection, each captured in a fitting action-pose: Miles Morales (in his finale super suit), Spider-Gwen, Spider-Ham, Peter Parker, Spider-Man Noir, Prowler, SP//dr, and Green Goblin. The only notably missing characters are Kingpin and Miles’ father. And maybe Aunt May, because she’s a true MVP in this movie.
Each figure, as the name would suggest, comes housed inside a clear plastic dome with a purple base that has the movie’s title on its front. The Domez each feature a hook on the right side of their base, which connects to slots on any other Domez base, as well as a z-shaped piece on the top that fits into a slot on the bottom of other Domez.
Using the hooks and slots, you can connect and display the figures however you want – stack them all for a slightly unstable 22-inch Spider-Verse tower, connect them in pairs, or create a two-tier square — the possibilities are endless.
Zag makes Domez for other fandoms, too, including Venom, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Avengers: Infinity War, and the cats of Disney. The new Spider-Verse characters are compatible with all other Domez, so collectors can combine them to create a Domez super-structure.
When first opening the Domez, if you’re anything like me, you may wonder if the figures can come out of their plastic dome shell. Alas, they do not (unless you decide to take a sledgehammer to them or something, which I do NOT recommend whatsoever). At first, this felt like a bit of a downside and possible oversight. However, the more I thought about it, the more sense it makes. The Domez are designed to be collectibles, not action figures to play with. The dome encasing not only protects the figures, but it also provides the connection and display options that make the line unique.
For anyone who wishes they lived in the Spider-Verse (including yours truly), these collectibles are a must-have. They are especially great for fans looking to show off their Spidey love at an affordable price point, and for those who may be limited in the space they have to show off their collectibles. They would be a great addition to a desk, dorm, or apartment.
Spider-Verse Domez are available as individual blind bags or in an eight-piece boxed set. The boxed set is a definite plus, making it much easier for Spider-Verse fans to collect the full set and avoid repeats. The set is available now, exclusively at Target, for $29.99.
