Mount and Romijn

The second season of Star Trek: Discovery is nearing its end, and — according to a report from Deadline — so are two of the show’s new main characters.

At the start of this season, Anson Mount joined the cast as Captain Christopher Pike of the USS Enterprise, and Rebecca Romijn was cast as Number One, a member of Pike’s crew.

Apparently, since both characters were introduced to help sync Discovery with the lore of the original Star Trek, their presence in the series was set as a one-season deal. Both Mount and Romijn will reportedly exit the series after this season.

According to Deadline, this limited run was in the actors’ contracts from the start, and Mount’s exit has nothing to do with his on-set altercation with a show director last August.
