The Clone Wars may be over, but there’s officially a new animated Star Wars series on the way!
The Bad Batch is, as you may have guessed, based on the squad of experimental clones first introduced in The Clone Wars. For those who aren’t familiar, each member of the team possesses a different exceptional skill (because they are genetically different from their brothers in the Clone Army).
This series, which will debut on Disney+ next year, follows the team in the post-Clone War era as they try to find a new purpose and take on mercenary missions.
Many veteran Lucasfilm team members are returning to helm this project, including executive producers Dave Filoni (The Mandalorian, Star Wars: The Clone Wars), Athena Portillo (Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Star Wars Rebels), Brad Rau (Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance) and Jennifer Corbett (Star Wars Resistance). Rau is also serving as supervising director and Corbett will be head writer.
“While the Clone Wars may have come to its conclusion, our partnership with the groundbreaking storytellers and artists at Lucasfilm Animation is only beginning,” says Agnes Chu, senior vice president of content at Disney+. “We are thrilled to bring Dave Filoni’s vision to life through the next adventures of the Bad Batch.”
This also means that Bad Batch merch must happen, which we are 100% here for!
