The upcoming Warner Bros. and DC Entertainment Birds of Prey (And the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) film has its stars.
In addition to the previous casting news that Margot Robbie returns as Harley Quinn, and that Mary Elizabeth Winstead will play Huntress and Jurnee Smollett-Bell as Black Canary, the film studio announced the rest of the team fighting alongside them.
Chris Messina (Sharp Objects, The Mindy Project) will take on the DC villain Victor Zsasz, the serial killer who carves tally marks on his victims. The villain is is in cahoots with Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask. Messina’s portrayal will mark the first time Zsasz will appear extensively on film, after a brief scene in 2005’s Batman Begins.
Other casting news brings actors Steven Williams (The Chi), Derek Wilson (Future Man), Dana Lee (Dr. Ken), Francois Chau (The Expanse, The Tick), and Matthew Willig (The Ballad of Buster Scruggs) to the project, with their roles kept under wraps. It is reported that Wilson, making his studio feature film debut, will play a police associate of Renee Montoya (played by Rosie Perez).
In a separate announcement, Warner Bros. revealed that comedian Ali Wong joins the cast as a police officer, as well as actor Robert Cartrini in an unspecified role.
Birds of Prey opens in theaters February 7, 2020.
