Get ready to hand over all your money because Nintendo announced new games are launching this year for the Nintendo Switch game system. The announcement came in a Nintendo Direct video presentation.
Headliners Super Mario Maker 2 and The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening topped the lineup.
The sequel to the hit original Super Mario Maker game puts players in control of creating Mario’s world with even more tools, items, and features. The game is set to launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch in June.
Meanwhile, the new Legend of Zelda game is a reboot of the original Game Boy version released more than 25 years ago. Players will travel to the mysterious island of Koholint to guide Link on an adventure. The Legend of Zelda: Link’s Awakening will also launch exclusively on Nintendo Switch.
The company unveiled a new title, Astral Chain, coming this year. PlatinumGames’ new action game is exclusive to Nintendo Switch and will launch on Aug. 30. Players in the game, which was directed by Takahisa Taura (NieR:Automata) and supervised by Hideki Kamiya (Bayonetta), join a police special forces unit in a multicultural futuristic city. They must work together with a special living weapon called the Legion to explore and battle in the city.
“Whether you’re looking for new games in classic franchises, new content for existing hits, or completely new experiences, Nintendo Switch has something for everyone over the next several months alone,” Senior Vice President of sales and marketing for Nintendo of America Doug Bowser says in a statement.
