If you’re building a home arcade, you’ll probably want to clear a little space for Arcade1Up‘s first release of the new year!
The company behind the 3/4-scale home arcade craze surprised retro gaming fans by releasing a limited-edition BurgerTime home arcade machine.
In BurgerTime, players help Chef Peter Pepper complete orders of hamburgers as they work through different mazes of increasing difficulty to complete the assembly of burgers while avoiding Mr. Hot Dog, Mr. Pickle, and Mr. Egg. The game was originally released by Data East in 1982, which licensed the game to Bally Midway for its full-size arcade cabinets that were played at Pizza Huts and Aladdin’s Castles from coast to coast.
The Arcade1Up machine features a full-color, 17-inch display; two sets of controls with full-size joysticks and buttons; and three additional games: Karate Champ, Bad Dudes, and Caveman Ninja. Like the recent Marvel and Star Wars releases, BurgerTime includes a light-up marquee and matching riser, in addition to a unique shape that matches the original cabinet from the 1980s.
Only 3,000 cabinets have been produced. Preorders are open now, with shipping in the U.S. and Canada beginning on March 1.
Arcade1Up has been leading the home arcade resurgence since its debut in fall 2018. For those who don’t have space for a 3/4-scale cabinet, Arcade1Up’s Counter-Cades are an excellent option for big fun in a small space!
