D.J. Caruso is in talks to direct Paramount Pictures’ movie remake of the Nickelodeon ‘90s series Are You Afraid of the Dark?

The original show was about a group of teenagers called The Midnight Society who met at a secret location in the woods each week to tell a scary story. It aired as part of Nickelodeon’s SNICK starting in 1992 with a total of 91 episodes.

Caruso directed 2017’s xXx: Return of Xander Cage, starring Vin Diesel, and 2007’s Disturbia and 2008’s Eagle Eye, both starring Shia LaBeouf.

Are You Afraid of the Dark will hit theaters on Oct. 11 next year and has yet to begin casting. Maybe Shia LaBeouf is free?
