Gear up for a game night takedown because Asmodee and Z-Man Games are showing fans how it’s done, done, done. KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight is now available for HUNTR/X and Saja Boys fans alike.
In KPop Demon Hunters, Netflix’s most popular film of all time, fans will remember HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys going head-to-head during the International Idol Awards. Now, with KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight, fans can experience this on-screen moment in real life through a tabletop game designed for 2-6 players.

Grab your lightsticks and get ready to cheer for your favorite KPop group. After choosing Team HUNTR/X or Team Saja, players will compete and battle it out by drawing and playing different cards. Only one group can win, so players must use the characters’ unique abilities to help their team take the W.
As HUNTR/X and Saja Boys battle for the spotlight, Krystal Rose, Z-Man Games’ Senior Marketing Manager, speaks with The Pop Insider about the “Golden” moments that await fans in this KPop Demon Hunters-inspired title.
Why did you decide to bring ‘KPop Demon Hunters’ into the board game scene?
It was pretty immediately obvious that KPop Demon Hunters was becoming a pop culture sensation, and with so many fans of the IP in our studio, it was an enthusiastic push from everyone involved. Typically, our timelines from ideation to market are about two to two and a half years. But this one literally hit our desks around November 2025 as an opportunity.
It was incredible because not only was it real, but it was a deeply thematic twist on the Love Letter DNA, making the game feel like it was designed specifically for the fans.
How did you decide on the game idea for KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight?
Game Designer Waleed Ma’arouf was locked in on what makes KPop Demon Hunters special and came to the team after a single weekend with the idea of bringing the Idol Awards/battle of the bands vibe to the table, where the players are the fans rooting for their favorite group.
Why choose Love Letter’s mechanics for this game?
This one is two-fold: Firstly, we’ve been utilizing Love Letter as an engine to convert more families into players. We firmly believe that everyone is a gamer — some just haven’t found their game yet. Love Letter is a fabulous jumping-off point for someone with little experience with games, and offers ample creative space for thematic iterations.
Second, when Waleed was brought onto the team in 2025, he was challenged with leading the development of our Love Letter collection, including identifying unique and interesting ways to apply the core mechanics to trending themes and fandoms. When our team was given the opportunity to make a game in the world of KPop Demon Hunters, we all agreed that Love Letter was the perfect fit, allowing players of all experience levels to participate.
What movie moments do you bring to this tabletop title?
This whole idea was based on the Idol Awards near the end of the movie. But because the characters show you who they are throughout the movie, you are reminded of those moments throughout the game.
For example, we do not see the Saja Boys perform at the Idol Awards in the movie; we only see them move to the new stadium to perform in their demon forms. The character depictions in our game are all their human forms. This leads me to think about each moment in the movie when each character shows us who they are. It is an aspect that will keep players, like myself, engaged with the story throughout the game.
What can players and movie fans expect from KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight?
In the game, you are assigned to a team, either HUNTR/X or Saja Boys (or you can choose at the start of the game), then you’re working alongside the other members of your team to duke it out against the other team to collect more fan energy and win the battle of the bands.
When we debuted the title at Gen Con in Indianapolis this past summer, we hosted a play session where each time your team won fan energy, they literally cheered loudly, and other tables from the same team would cheer as well. There was so much energy in the room! All that to say, it’s a quick game of tug-of-war with simple mechanics that make you feel like you’re actually battling for the spotlight.
What type of players/audience is this game designed for?
This game is truly accessible to players of all experience levels. As long as a player can read their cards, they can play the game. That said, it was truly designed as a love letter (pun intended) to the fans of the KPop Demon Hunters franchise. If you’ve fallen in love with any of the characters for any reason at all, as much of our studio has, you will find a lot of joy in battling it out in KPop Demon Hunters: Battle for the Spotlight. It’ll make a great gift for the fans!
