Awesome Con Programming

Awesome Con, the main Comic Con for the Washington, D.C., area, kicks off in exactly two weeks, running from April 26 to 28. Today, the con released a full schedule of events, panels, and guests.

Some of the main stage, big-name events include:

  • Weird Al Q&A (2:30 p.m. on April 26);
  • The Office Q&A (6 p.m. on April 26), featuring Creed Bratton, Jim O’Heir, Kate Flannery, and Oscar Núñez;
  • Riverdale Q&A (11:45 a.m. on April 27), featuring Cole Sprouse and KJ Apa;
  • Princess Bride Q&A (2 p.m. on April 27);
  • Star Trek: Next Generation Q&A (3:45 p.m. on April 27); and
  • Matt Smith Q&A (11:45 a.m. on April 28).

This year’s “Future Con” panels, which focus on the intersection of science and science fiction, include “Science of Aquaman” (7 p.m. on April 26) and “The Story and Science of Gravitational Waves” (2 p.m. on April 28).

For the youngest fans, there are “Awesome Con Jr.” events, including a Dreamworks Screening (4 p.m. on April 26) and a Kids Costume Parade (noon on April 27 and 28).

There is also daily “Pride Alley” programming, centered around LGBTQ fans. These awesome panels include “Fabulous Fictional Females” (1:30 p.m. on April 26), “Exploring Gay & Lesbian Comic Creators” (5:30 p.m. on April 26), “We ARE Gaymers! Be Proud!” (11:30 a.m. on April 27), and “Crossplay 101″ (2:30 p.m. on April 27).

Additional programming includes DC Celebrates 80 Years of Batman Comics” (5 p.m. on April 27) and the Awesome Con Short Film Fest.
