Netflix confirms that Black Mirror: Bandersnatch is the first film installment in the dystopian sci-fi anthology series. Black Mirror: Bandersnatch has its own Netflix page, labeled “A Netflix film,” completely separate from the Black Mirror page for season 5 of the series.

While several episodes of the show are considered TV movies—the third season’s “San Junipero” and season 4’s “U.S.S. Callister” even won the Emmy for Outstanding Television Movie—none have been officially named as films from Netflix itself.

Neither Black Mirror: Bandersnatch nor season 5 of the show has a release date yet, though Netflix typically releases Black Mirror the last week of the year. A verified Netflix account tweeted and then deleted a list last month with several December release dates, including a launch date of Dec. 28 for Bandersnatch, so at least fans won’t have to wait too long.
