Even before Walt Disney Studios acquired 20th Century Fox, the studio had a jam-packed box office schedule for this year. Today, Disney released a calendar with its release schedule through 2027 — including Fox titles — and wow, there is so much info.
Perhaps the biggest news revealed on the calendar is three previously unannounced Star Wars movies, releasing every other year starting in 2021.
A few movies got moved from their previously scheduled release dates, including The Art of Racing in the Rain (moving up to Aug. 9), Fox Searchlight’s Ready or Not (moved up to Aug. 23), Ad Astra (pushed back to Sept. 20), The New Mutants (pushed back to April 3, 2020), and Artemis Fowl (pushed back to May 5, 2020).
We also got official release dates for some upcoming Disney live action remakes, including Mulan (March 27, 2020) and Cruella (Dec. 23, 2020). Pixar’s Onward also got a release date: March 6, 2020.
The Marvel Studios releases through 2022 are on the calendar, too, but they are all listed as “Untitled Marvel” for now.
From Fox, highlights include a release date for Steven Spielberg’s West Side Story remake (Dec. 18, 2020) and the next four Avatar movies. Mark your calendars: Avatar 5 will be hitting the big screen on Dec. 17, 2027, … yay?
