Disney is apparently using James Gunn‘s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 script after all.
Sean Gunn, younger brother of former GOTG director James Gunn and an actor in the franchise, spoke to Tulsa World about the future of the third film.
Earlier reports suggested that Disney, who fired James over old tweets containing offensive comments about rape and pedophilia, still planned to use his script for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Sean confirmed these reports, saying, “I know Disney still wants to make the movie. I know that they have every intention of using the script that my brother wrote.”
He also commented on the film’s production status after Disney announced an indefinite hold on the project last month.
“Obviously, I think it’s a tricky proposition for them to find another director to step in—and also the scheduling of a lot of other actors who are incredibly busy can’t be easy,” he said. “But I know that they plan on making the movie. I had not been contacted at all for a while, but I was recently contacted by Marvel saying, ‘Yeah, we do plan to make this movie. We’re just not sure when yet.'”
