Hey parents, we know you’ve probably heard “Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star” and “Itsy, Bitsy Spider” more times than you can count (or want to count), but we promise you’ve never heard them like this.
EDM artist Marshmello (who has collaborated with popular singers from Bastille to Selena Gomez) is entering a whole new genre: kid’s music! Working with producer Moe Shalizi, Marshmello recently started Mellodees, an animated video-based brand that merges electronic music and educational content for kids. (Get it? Mellodees!)
Each video stars a musical robot named Dee, who leads kids in an upbeat rendition of a popular kids’ tune. The videos also cover educational content and topics such as self-care, diversity, well-being, and culture.
Parents (or Marshmello fans of any age, really) can check out this content at mellodees.com. There are six music videos so far — most recently “Wheels on the Bus,” which you can watch below — and a bunch of printable educational content available. The new “Wheels on the Bus” video even features a teeny, tiny little animated version of the DJ Marshmello, driving the bus and droppin’ beats.
While the brand is starting with a new twist on nursery rhyme classics, the brand plans to expand into original music and storylines later this year.
Now, turn up the speakers and get ready to dance. These are some seriously catchy family-friendly tunes.
