So you think you know pop culture? Are you confident that you know it enough to reign supreme as the mightiest geek among geeks? With Playroom Entertainment‘s Geek Out! you can put your skills to the test in a battle to become the trivia titan!

Geek Out! is a party game for two or more players that celebrates pop culture. In addition to the classic Geek Out!, decade-specific editions — ’80s, ’90s, and the newest addition: ’00s — will have players throwing down the knowledge in an effort to outbid their opponents in an effort to “geek out” and win.

Each game lasts around 30 minutes and is played with a deck of trivia cards, a selection of tokens, a six-sided die, and a small gameboard. The object of the game is to be the first to reach five points by coming up with longer lists of answers than your opponent across five categories, which run the gamut from TV and movies to music, games, and toys. Players roll the die and read a “Can you name…” question from the corresponding color. For example, in Geek Out! ’80s Edition, you may role a black dot which leads to the following question: “Can you name one TV show in which an iconic car appeared?” Players pass the question around to see who knows the most.

The first player may know one, but other players may be able to name two, three, or more shows that featured an iconic car in an effort to outbid the other players. The A-Team (Face’s Corvette), Knight Rider (KITT), and The Dukes of Hazzard (General Lee) would all be acceptable answers. The player who wins the challenge scores a point and advances on the gameboard.

In Geek Out ’00s Edition, players may be tasked with naming some Beyoncé songs, so get ready to break out the hits like “Run the World (Girls),” “Single Ladies (Put A Ring On It),” or “Crazy In Love” (that hot jam featuring Jay-Z); or go with some deep cuts to impress your friends (“Check On It” featuring Sun and Slim Thug from The Pink Panther soundtrack would seemingly fit the bill, but it still went No. 1).

We live in a pop culture world, and Geek Out! is the perfect opportunity to put the phones down and see just how much geektastic knowledge is housed inside of our brains.
