Disney is in talks with AT&T to acquire WarnerMedia’s 10 percent stake in Hulu, according to Variety. Once Disney gains approval to buy 20th Century Fox, Disney will take over Fox’s 30 percent ownership share in Hulu, in addition to the 30 percent stake it currently holds. If Disney secures the deal with AT&T, it will control 70 percent of Hulu.
Comcast/NBCUniversal also owns a 30 percent stake in Hulu, which Disney is trying to get its hands on. “Disney would like to buy us out,” NBCU CEO Steve Burke says in an interview with Variety. “I don’t think anything’s going to happen in the near term.”
