Julie Andrews, best known for playing the iconic Mary Poppins, landed yet another big role.
Aquaman Director James Wan recently took to Twitter to confirm Andrews’ role, which happens to be a big one. According to Wan, Andrews voices Karathen, the most powerful creature on Earth.

While the description is vague, it is exciting. Karathen is an giant undersea creature that holds the key to uniting the Atlantean and surface worlds. That’s a pretty important key.
And while Andrews’ casting seemed to come out of nowhere, the choice was actually pretty simple.
“We wanted the Karathen to have the voice of a classic British actress, albeit somewhat digitally altered,” Aquaman producer Peter Safran explained. “And when we found out Julie was interested and available and excited to do it, casting her was a no brainer.”
DC films’ Aquaman will splash into theaters on December 21.
