Things are a bit up in the air for the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise right now.
Not only because most of its main characters are technically dead (including Star Lord himself), but also because Disney fired director James Gunn from the upcoming third movie over controversial tweets.
However, while promoting her directorial debut, The Party’s Just Beginning, Karen Gillan (aka Nebula, one of the two Guardians characters who didn’t disintegrate or die in Infinity War), spoke about the future of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Gillan says there is a script in existence, reportedly the one written by James Gunn. Speaking to People, she said:
“Our director won’t be with us any longer, but we are excited to continue the Guardians of the Galaxy story and keep delivering to the fans. That’s the most important thing. I don’t have any details as to when [the next Guardians film will come out], but there’s a script in existence.”
She also teased that she had “a little tiny peek” at the script, but wasn’t at liberty to share anything about it.
According to a tweet from SlashFilm’s Peter Sciretta, the third Guardians installment will be an emotional one. “If I had somehow talked to two separate people, who somehow read James Gunn’s Guardians 3 script, and both told me that it made them cry, I probably wouldn’t be able to say any more.”
Now we grab some tissues, blast “Hooked on a Feeling,” and wait impatiently for an official release date.
