Attending his first Golden Globes this weekend, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige talked with MTV news and provided updates on a variety of Marvel projects.
Discussing the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, Feige says the studio decided on the title around the time they started to develop the movie. He says Infinity War included Doctor Strange saying, “We’re in the endgame now,” because the studio already knew that would be the title for the next Avengers movie.
He also says reports that all Infinity War trailers and marketing will only use footage from the first 15 to 20 minutes of the movie is “somewhat accurate.”
“Being able to generate excitement without giving away any of the many, many, many, many secrets would be ideal,” he says.
When asked about Captain Marvel, Feige revealed that the studio is still working on its final cut of the movie—”The effects are coming together, the music is coming together, the final mix,” he says. “Were I not on this carpet talking to you right now, I’d be in a cutting room and on a mix stage.”
Fiege also discussed the uncertain future of the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise and former director James Gunn’s potential switch to DC to direct the Suicide Squad sequel. He says he doesn’t see DC as a rival, noting how much he enjoyed Aquaman.
“One thing you know about James Gunn, he makes cool films,” he says. “Guardians will happen. When, where, how, for a later time.”
