Kit Harrington SNL

This weekend, Kit Harington (better known as Jon Snow — or more accurately, Aegon Targaryen — from Game of Thrones) hosted Saturday Night Live for the first time. However, Harington wasn’t the only Westerosi actor in the building. For his opening monologue, fellow cast members Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) and John Bradley (Samwell Tarly) popped up from the audience to ask questions about the show’s upcoming final season.

The bit was that Harington can’t give anything away about the new season, and that the Clarke and Bradley should already know the ending considering, you know, that they’re on the show. Clarke had the funniest line in the exchange, saying, “Do you remember in season six when we had sex? Did you know they filmed that?”

After that, the Night King pops up for a second. But more importantly, the final question comes from Rose Leslie, who played Ygritte on Game of Thrones and is Harington’s wife in real life.

Her question, however, has nothing to do with the show. She just wants to know what the couple is going to do for money now that Thrones is coming to a close.

Check out the full monologue here.

That wasn’t the only Game of Thrones reference during the show, of course. There was also this sketch, called “New HBO Shows,” which offered fake spin-off shows and crossovers for Thrones. Among them were a “dark, moody drama about forbidden love” called “Castle Black” and a new procedural called “Game of Thrones Special Victims Unit,” (complete with Mariska Hargitay and Ice-T cameos).

The episode received fairly positive feedback, with SNL’s ratings up from last week.

Harington will return as Jon Snow for the final season of Game of Thrones, which premieres this Sunday on HBO.
