Mulder and Scully have always been good at putting the pieces together. Now, fans put their own detective skills to the test with the first-ever LEGO set inspired by The X-Files.
Launching Aug. 1, the LEGO Ideas The X-Files set reopens the case on the beloved ‘90s sci-fi drama, starting with a detailed build of Mulder’s basement office. The 1,478-piece model is packed with hidden details for fans to investigate, including the iconic “I Want to Believe” poster, a “The Truth is Out There” tile, an X-Files dossier, pencils stuck in the ceiling, and even a tiny nod to Mulder’s sunflower seed habit.
Above the office is a peaceful woodland clearing, the landing site for a massive, brick-built UFO. The flying saucer hovers above the forest on a transparent pole, with a little gray alien ready to invade. Don’t worry, though — Mulder, Scully, Mr. X, and five more minifigures are on the case, even clipping to the side of the model for paranormal display power. You can showcase each scene on its own, or stack them together for an out-of-this-world addition to any shelf.

And that’s not all! Fans who purchase the LEGO Ideas X-Files set between Aug. 1 and 10 will receive a bonus build: Scully’s Lab. This 221-piece diorama recreates every detail of her classroom lab at the FBI National Academy, down to her examination table, cupboards, wall decor, and goggle-wearing minifigure.
The concept for both sets was originally pitched by Brisbane-based 3D artist and fan designer Brent Waller during the LEGO Ideas ’90s Nostalgia Challenge, which invites fans to submit ideas for LEGO sets and vote for the ones they’d like to actually see on the shelves. To celebrate the reveal, Gillian Anderson, better known by fans as Special Agent Scully, stars in a mysterious mini-film as she uncovers the new LEGO set piece by piece.
The LEGO Ideas The X-Files set will be available for LEGO Insiders starting Aug. 1, followed by a global launch Aug. 4, for $199.99. To learn more, visit LEGO.com.
