LEGO, Blizzard Entertainment, and Twitch are gearing up to host an Twitch Rivals Tournament with a sweet twist.
Players in the tournament will compete to score donations of LEGO boxes that benefit charities, including Toys for Tots, Ronald McDonald House Charities, the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center, Toy Bank, Sweden’s Giving People, Germany’s Dein München, France’s Cèkedubonheur, and the UK’s Fairy Bricks.
“We’re always exploring new ways to thrill and engage our fans and we’re delighted to be part of this first of its kind Twitch Rivals tournament,” LEGO senior marketing manager Sten Funder Lysdahl said in a statement. “Together with Blizzard, Twitch and Initiative, who have played a key role in setting this up, we hope to explore a new approach to connecting with our amazing LEGO and Overwatch fans alike.”
LEGO selected eight Overwatch streamers to lead a community team for a day-long tournament spanning the UK, the U.S., France, Germany, and Sweden. The line-up includes Fran, Fareeha, Emongg, and Aspen from the U.S. along with Germany’s HighScoresHeroes, the UK’s Valkia, the Nordics’ AnnieFuschia, and France’s AlphaCast.
The round-robin competitions will include four rounds with players earning points for each one they win. The ultimate regional Overwatch LEGO winners will donate LEGO boxes to a local charity of their choice. The players will compete in custom Workshop game modes created by the community, including 10K Damage FFA, Steal the Crown, Freeze Tag, and Play as Two Heroes.
The battle will go down on July 25 in the U.S. from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. PT and in the UK, France, Germany, and Sweden from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. CEST/5 p.m. to 8 p.m. BST.
