Originally scheduled for May 2020, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will be here a lot sooner than we all thought. Disney is moving the sequel’s release date up considerably — to Oct. 18. Get ready.
At the box office, Maleficent: Mistress of Evil will now go against an unnamed Blumhouse movie and an animated MGM production of The Addams Family. The company also released a new teaser poster, shown below.
If you feel like the year is just chocked full of alllll the Disney, you’re not wrong. Apparently someone over there has decided to go hard or go home:Â With Maleficent moving up, September is the only month between now and December without a major Disney release. Whew, get your wallets ready.
With such a jam-packed 2019, it does beg the question: What’s Disney holding in store for 2020?
Joachim Ronning is directing the sequel to 2014’s global hit, which grossed $758.5M globally.
