Get ready to revisit your childhood bookshelf, because Netflix announced upcoming original animated series and specials based on the works of British author Roald Dahl.
The streaming service announced the content with a video of a Wonka Bar being unwrapped to reveal a golden ticket, in homage to Dahl’s Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The back of the ticket lists that title, as well as The BFG, Matilda, The Twits, “and many more.”
The animated content is the result of a deal between Netflix and the Roald Dahl Story Co. Production on on the first series is set to begin in 2019, and additional titles include Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator, George’s Marvellous Medicine, Boy – Tales of Childhood, Going Solo, The Enormous Crocodile, The Giraffe and the Pelly and Me, Henry Sugar, Billy and the Minpins, The Magic Finger, Esio Trot, Dirty Beasts, and Rhyme Stew.
According to Netflix, the titles will “remain faithful to the quintessential spirit and tone of Dahl while also building out an imaginative story universe that expands far beyond the pages of the books themselves.”
