Netflix will adapt C.S. Lewis’ seven The Chronicles of Narnia novels for its streaming service.
The novels—which launched in 1950 with The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe—follow the adventures of four British children during WWII who find themselves in a magical world called Narnia.
The most recent adaptation of the novels were a trio of Disney films released in 2005, 2008, and 2010. A fourth film in the saga, The Silver Chair, was supposed to begin filming this year. Production seems to have halted on that project following this Netflix deal.
There are no details yet about the casting, release dates, or how many pieces of content Netflix will product. However, producer Mark Gordon mentioned “multiple productions” that will be “both stellar feature-length and episodic programming.”
