Paul W. S. Anderson and Milla Jovovich just can’t get enough of working together.
After two years of little information, the long-anticipated movie, Monster Hunter, by Constantin Films, has a film date, a lead, and a budget. Anderson announced the idea in 2016 and he described the base plot as, “An ordinary man in a dead-end job discovers that he is actually the descendant of an ancient hero. He must travel to a mystical world to train to become a Monster Hunter, before the mythical creatures from that world destroy ours.”
The film will star Jovovich and it’s unclear whether or not the original premise of the movie has been significantly changed. Jovovich and Anderson have previously worked together on the Resident Evil movies, which is currently in the works for a six-movie reboot. Anderson has adamantly stated that he won’t be involved with the reboot and there are currently no plans for Jovovich to return.
For Monster Hunter, the $60 million budgeted movie will film in South Africa in September near the Cape Town area. The intention is to turn the film into a series, much like what Anderson did with Resident Evil. If it’s a hit, Jovovich and Anderson are going to have quite a workload in the coming years.
