While many of us were busy enjoying the sunshine over the holiday weekend, there were tons of video game news, updates, and rumors hitting the internet. In case you were away from your phone this weekend — and/or frantically trying to clear out your email inbox this morning — here’s a quick roundup of the biggest video game headlines from the past few days.
SUMMER OF GAMING SCHEDULE
This morning, IGN published a schedule for its online gaming news event, Summer of Gaming. This event is set to run for three weeks, starting on June 4. The full schedule is available here and will be updated as IGN schedules additional events. The whole thing will kick off with “IGN Expo” on June 5, 8, and 9 — three days filled with exclusive announcements and reveals from game developers and publishers. The lineup also includes some charity events, which will support the World Health Organization’s COVID-19 Solidarity Response Fund. One of these events is called “Animal Crossing: Celebrity Island Tours,” and will take place on June 12. In this day-long livestream, fans can tune in to see what celebs have done with their Animal Crossing: New Horizons islands. Heck yes, please take my bells now.
MINECRAFT DUNGEONS — AVAILABLE NOW
Minecraft Dungeons is available today for Xbox One, Windows PC, Nintendo Switch, and PlayStation 4 systems. From the newly rebranded Mojang Studios, the game is an action-adventure dungeon crawler that is set within the Minecraft universe. Featuring local and online co-op modes, the game is being touted as a fun way for families and friends to connect while staying home. Check out the launch trailer above!
PREORDER — AND DEMO — IRON MAN VR
You. Are. Iron Man.
It feels like we’ve been talking about and waiting for Iron Man VR forever at this point, but it is finally flying our way on July 3. This weekend, PlayStation unveiled details for a bundle that includes both the Iron Man VR game and PlayStation VR equipment. Available for preorder directly from PlayStation, the bundle costs $349.99. (Note: You also need a PS4, which is not included.)
Sony also released a free demo for the game, which is available to download now from the PlayStation store. If you don’t have VR capabilities yet, you can still get a taste of the action in the demo video above.
That’s the big news for today, but mark your calendars for tomorrow at 4 p.m. ET: Fans will get to see (official) new gameplay footage from The Last of Us Part IIÂ in a State of Play livestream.
