Say hello to the MCU, Kamala Khan!
Today, Disney+ released the official trailer, poster, and release date for the upcoming Marvel Studios series Ms. Marvel, which will start streaming on June 8. The trailer takes fans somewhere the MCU hasn’t spent very much time: The halls of high school.
Set to a rendition of The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights,” the nearly 2-minute trailer introduces fans to Kamala Khan (Iman Vellani), a young girl from Jersey City who loves superheroes, fan fiction, and video games. Kamala feels like she doesn’t fit in. Then she gets the superpowers that she’s always dreamed of, which change her life… but maybe not in the way she’d expected. The show also marks a major milestone for representation within the MCU, as Kamala Khan is the first Muslim superhero to join the franchise.
Fans can check out the trailer below and mark their calendars for June 8, when the series will debut on Disney+. At this time, there is not any merch available for the Ms. Marvel series. Other upcoming, fandom-fueled Disney+ releases include Moon Knight (March 30, trailer here) and Obi-Wan Kenobi (May 25, trailer here).
