Get ready to battle — not against your friends, but with them!
This morning, as part of a Pokémon Presents livestream, the Pokémon Company introduced Pokémon Unite, a new cooperative game with real-time team Pokémon battles.
Players work together to defeat an opposing team in arena battles. Each battle has a time limit, and players can earn points throughout the battle by capturing wild Pokémon and challenging opponents. In the final two minutes, all points are doubled, and at the end of the match, the team with the most points wins.
Throughout each battle, players can level up their Pokémon and learn new moves, including new, game-exclusive “unite” moves.
The best news? The game will be free to start on both mobile devices and the Nintendo Switch. It will also support cross-platform play. There is not a release date yet for the game, so stay tuned. If you need a more immediate new Pokémon fix, though, the puzzle-based Pokémon Cafe Mix is available today!
Fans can also get a look at a full Pokémon Unite battle with commentary. Check it out in the Pokémon Presents video, below.
