Spooky season may be many months away, but that doesn’t mean we can’t get into the festive spirit!

Sally Face — the indie hit horror video game that follows a boy with a prosthetic face who investigates local murders — is expanding into the board game sector. Creator Steve Gabry teamed up with Maestro Media, a leader in tabletop gaming, and Brand Central to start a Kickstarter campaign for Sally Face: Strange Nightmares. The board game will reimagine the video game, letting fans play in-universe.

In this cooperative narrative and adventure-mystery game, fans play as Sally Face’s iconic characters who are investigating the mysteries that plague their hometown. Players will need to work quickly by rolling the dice to overcome evil before it’s too late.

Although it’s a board game, there are multiple, variable storylines to play, making the game highly replayable. Sally Face: Stranger Nightmares mirrors the video game’s progression system, which allows for multiple chapters that come with their own mysteries and challenges. New portions of the story are unlocked as players work their way through the game. This requires players to solve mysteries, avoid cops, pacify ghosts, and prevent corruption from overtaking the apartment building.

In addition to Sally Face: Stranger Nightmares, Maestro Media and Steve Gabry are also collaborating on an exclusive merchandise line that features fan-requested vinyl figures, apparel and home decor, original music, and more. There will also be a subscription mystery box program called Sally Face: Strange Boxes with limited-edition apparel, merch, and items.

The good news? The game has already been backed, so we’ll officially be getting Sally Face: Strange Nightmares. The Kickstarter campaign will remain open until March 31, and anyone who backs the project with at least $40 will get a copy of the game. Those who pledge more can unlock stretch goals, which include exclusive cards and a special game mat. You can click here to back the campaign.

Although it might take a while for the game to hit shelves, Sally Face released a trailer to tide us over. Check it out below!
