It’s Simu Liu’s birthday — and we all have a reason to celebrate!

The actor, who plays the titular character in the upcoming Marvel Studios film Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, debuted a poster for the film this morning on his Instagram and Twitter pages. Soon after, Marvel Studios released an action-packed teaser trailer for the movie.

Due out on Sept. 3 — a time when we might actually be able to see things in theaters again — the movie follows Shang-Chi as he battles with confronting his past while being drawn into the mysterious Ten Rings organization. The 2-minute trailer features fight scenes, crashing busses, and, of course, Awkwafina (who plays Shang-Chi’s friend Katy).

Shang-Chi and the Legend of Ten Rings was one of the first movies to halt production last year amid growing concerns over the coronavirus. In addition to Simu Liu and Awkwafina, Shang-Chi stars Tony Leung, Michelle Yeoh, Fala Chen, Meng’er Zhang, Florian Munteanu, and Ronny Chieng.

Along with the poster, Lui shared the following message on social media: “Shang Chi is more than just a movie — it is a celebration of our culture and a rallying cry for the forgotten, the unseen, and the overlooked. It is a reminder to take up space, to stand tall, and to be unapologetically ourselves. (Of course, it’s also going to deliver superhero action like you have NEVER. SEEN. BEFORE.)”
