During the network’s winter TCA press tour, The CW executives announced early season renewals for 10 current series.
The CW ordered renewals for new seasons of Arrow, Black Lightning, DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Supernatural, Riverdale, Dynasty, Legacies, and Charmed.
“The early renewal of these signature CW series gives us a head start on laying out the 2019-2020 season, and this is just the beginning,” The CW president Mark Pedowitz says in a statement. “These shows provide a strong foundation for our multi-platform programming strategy, and we look forward to building on this with even more returning and new shows as we approach the May upfront.”
This year, the network expanded its primetime schedule to include Sunday, fitting more programs in the lineup.
“This season, we expanded our primetime schedule to six nights with the addition of Sunday, which has been an unqualified success for the network, our affiliates, and our advertisers,” Pedowitz says. “In addition to growing our schedule across the week, we also continue to add more year-round programming.”
The 2019-2020 broadcast year will include sophomore seasons of Legacies and Charmed, season four of Riverdale, season 15 of Supernatural, season five of both Supergirl and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow, season three of both Dynasty and Black Lightning, season six of The Flash, and season eight of Arrow.
No premiere dates have been announced yet, but these current hits join new pilots Katy Keene, Jane the Novelas, The Lost Boys, Batwoman, and an untitled Nancy Drew drama on the network’s schedule.
